Is your child bright and capable, but... ...struggles to read, reverses or confuses letters? ...has messy handwriting, skips letters, or can't seem to apply grammar rules they know? ...faces a mental block with math, struggling with number concepts or word problems? Often, these struggles are mistaken for "laziness." As neuropsychologists, we know these aren't behavioral issues. They are signs of brain function and maturation. This isn't a diagnosis to fear; it's a problem with a clear, scientific solution. Our Neuropsychological Approach: Fixing the Foundation At the BrainUp Center, we don't just "drill" the problem skill. We go to the root cause. Successful reading, writing, and math are complex processes that require a "symphony" of cognitive functions to work together: attention, memory, spatial perception, phonemic (sound) awareness, visual-motor coordination, and self-control. Our online sessions are designed to build and strengthen this exact foundation. For Dyslexia (Reading Difficulties): We work on developing visual and auditory perception, improving phonemic awareness (the ability to distinguish sounds), expanding visual attention span, and solidifying the crucial "letter-sound" connection. For Dysgraphia (Writing Difficulties): We focus on developing fine motor skills, visual-spatial functions (to prevent letter reversal and maintain lines), enhancing interhemispheric (left/right brain) coordination, and improving the ability to sequence movements (for smooth, automatic writing). For Dyscalculia (Math Difficulties): We build "number sense" from the ground up, develop spatial and logical reasoning, work on understanding sequences and operations, and strengthen the working memory required to hold multi-step problems in mind. Sessions are held via Zoom in the comfort of your child's own home, which reduces stress and increases engagement.
